Menopause and Perimenopause Care in Baton Rouge
Perimenopause can begin years before your last period, and it rarely arrives the way anyone described. Sleep changes. Your cycle changes. Your mood, focus, or energy feels different, and a quick appointment ends with “that’s just part of getting older.”
At Femme Executive Health, perimenopause and menopause care is led by Dr. Kate Freeman, a board-certified family medicine physician and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP). Visits are long enough to hear the whole story, and your plan is built around you, not a template.
Care from a certified menopause specialist who takes the time to listen
Perimenopause or Menopause?
Perimenopause is the transition. Hormone levels rise and fall unevenly, often for several years, and changes can start in your late 30s or 40s while you are still having periods. Menopause is a single point in time: 12 months in a row without a period. The years after that are called postmenopause.
Many women are in perimenopause long before anyone names it. If you are not sure where you are, that is one of the first things Dr. Freeman will help you sort out.

How Menopause Care Works at Femme
Time to hear the whole picture
Appointments are unhurried. Dr. Freeman looks at your symptoms alongside your sleep, stress, cycle history, family history, and long-term health, because they are connected.
Testing that is actually useful
The Comprehensive membership includes a full women’s hormone panel (estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, FSH, LH, and more) along with heart and metabolic markers. Dr. Freeman will also explain what hormone testing can and cannot tell you during perimenopause, when levels can change from week to week.
A plan you make together
Dr. Freeman practices shared decision-making. She walks you through the options, the evidence, the benefits, and the risks, and the two of you decide together.
Follow-up that actually happens
Menopause changes the picture for bone, heart, and brain health. Prevention is built into your care, not just symptom relief.
The long view
Menopause care is not a single visit. Members can message Dr. Freeman directly and get after-hours guidance, and plans are adjusted as things change.
Treatment Options Dr. Freeman May Discuss
There is no single answer for menopause, and there should not be. Depending on your symptoms, history, and preferences, your plan may include:Hormone therapy when it is a good fit
Non-hormonal prescription options
Treatment for vaginal dryness and intimacy concerns
Sleep, nutrition, strength, and stress strategies
Screening for bone density, heart health, and metabolic changes
Every option comes with a clear explanation of the benefits, the risks, and the alternatives.
The MSCP credential comes from The Menopause Society (formerly the North American Menopause Society). Clinicians earn it by passing a dedicated exam in menopause care and keep it by staying current with research that changes often. Many women find that general appointments simply do not leave room for this level of focus. For Dr. Freeman, menopause care is a central part of her practice, not a side topic.
Why See a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner?.
Questions Women Ask
-
When changes are affecting your sleep, work, relationships, or how you feel day to day, or when you simply want a clear plan instead of guesswork. You do not need to wait until your periods stop.
-
Perimenopause is usually recognized from your age, your symptoms, and changes in your cycle rather than from a single test. Dr. Freeman looks at the full picture with you.
-
Blood tests can be helpful, but hormone levels swing during perimenopause, so one result rarely gives a clear yes or no. Testing is used thoughtfully, alongside your history and symptoms.
-
Many doctors do, but training in menopause varies widely. A Menopause Society Certified Practitioner has completed certification focused specifically on menopause care.
-
No. Start with a complimentary Welcome Visit to meet Dr. Freeman, tour the clinic, and ask questions, with no obligation. If you would like a full clinical assessment without joining, the one-hour Consultation Visit ($400) includes a written report, and the fee applies toward membership if you join later.
-
Yes. Insurance is billed for medically necessary care such as sick visits, follow-ups, labs, imaging, and preventive screenings. The membership covers what insurance does not: longer appointments, direct access to Dr. Freeman, and more in-depth care.
-
Many women see an OB-GYN for gynecologic care and still feel their menopause questions get a few minutes at the end of a visit. At Femme, menopause is a core focus, and Dr. Freeman serves as your primary care physician, so your hormones, heart, bones, sleep, and mood are looked at together.
